Private Philanthropic Foundation

I am leading an Evaluation for an international philanthropic foundation alongside Social Terrain and Themis Research.

The project seeks to evaluate the impact of initiatives dedicated to advancing economic actor accountability for human rights between 2015 and 2025. It will focus on the systemic impact of policy advocacy, litigation, and field-building strategies and generate evidence to guide future funding.

Landscape Analysis
FORGE Funders

I delivered a foundational landscape analysis for FORGE Funders, identifying opportunities in the transitional minerals sectors.

The report provides an overview of the global developments in transition minerals mining and regional insights into the sector's dynamics in Southern Africa and the Lithium Triangle in Latin America. It delivers strategic recommendations to FORGE Funders for funding opportunities across three impact areas— (1) Elevate Vulnerable Groups, (2) Strengthen Field Connections, and (3) Empower Rights Defenders—to drive systemic change and enhance corporate accountability.

Grievance Mechanism Effectiveness Check
Global Pharmaceutical Company

I evaluated the effectiveness of the client's central grievance mechanism, benchmarking it against the eight effectiveness principles outlined in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, and the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. The deliverables included targeted recommendations to enhance the grievance mechanism, a foundational vulnerable groups mapping, and a concept for future effectiveness assessments.

Foundational Research UNDROP Primer
Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining

I conducted foundational research that informed a Primer on the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas (UNDROP), focusing on its role in protecting the human rights of Indigenous peoples and peasants amid climate and biodiversity crises. The research explored historical and current challenges faced by peasant communities, compared UNDROP’s scope with the UN Declaration on Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and highlighted UNDROP’s potential to safeguard peasant rights during the energy transition. This work provided critical insights to address human rights, climate change, and biodiversity loss in global policy frameworks.

Empowerment Summer School
Wetek GmbH

I co-designed and co-hosted the annual Creative Women* Summer School in Berlin with my colleague Mirjam Hirsch. This five-day retreat empowered women in the arts and creative industries, focusing on Female Empowerment. The program fostered self-discovery, confidence, and community through self-inquiry, meditation, body work, movement, peer coaching, and visioning sessions. We curated the transformative experience, created a nurturing space for participants to reconnect with their strengths and passions.

Analysis Report EU Battery Regulation

I advised Levin Source`s team during the drafting process of an analysis report on the new EU Battery Regulation (2023). The report provides an overview of the emerging due diligence obligations and ensuing recommended changes to common current due diligence practices of Drive Sustainability members, to support Drive Sustainability members to take an effective and efficient approach to implementing the EU Batteries Regulation. A second deliverable included an overview of existing tools, resources, initiatives, etc. that may help Drive Sustainability members to comply with the EU Battery Regulation.

Human Rights Risk Assessment
Multinational Pharmaceutical Company

I conducted a Human Rights Risk Assessment for a multinational pharmaceutical company, aligned with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, and facilitated the establishment of a robust Human Rights Due Diligence Management System. Deliverables included an abstract risk analysis, capacity-building materials for risk owners, interactive webinars, a detailed results analysis by risk topic, workshop materials for a prioritization workshop, and strategic recommendations for future risk assessments, empowering the company to enhance accountability and compliance across its own operations.

Empowerment Summer School

I co-designed and co-hosted the Inner Development Goals Summer School in Berlin) with my colleague Mirjam Hirsch. The 5 day urban retreat offered a transformative program for female* creative entrepreneurs and artists. This unique retreat used the Inner Development Goals framework to build skills for a sustainable future, reflecting on the role of arts and culture in social change. Through systemic coaching, mindfulness, somatics, self-inquiry, and artistic expression, participants explored their potential amid societal mega-crises. We facilitated a vibrant space for networking, creation, and learning, fostering impactful connections among diverse creative women.

German Helpdesk on Business and Human Rights
As an external advisor to the German Helpdesk on Business and Human Rights, I coached numerous small and medium-sized German companies in implementing the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act. Through tailored one-on-one coaching, I supported their gap and risk assessments and the development of human rights strategies and policies. I delivered webinars and in-person capacity-building workshops for industry associations and provided expert insights at industry conferences, addressing implementation challenges and opportunities, enabling businesses to enhance compliance and promote responsible practices across their supply chains.

Responsible Sourcing Strategy
International Car Manufacturer

I advised a multinational car manufacturer on developing a responsible sourcing strategy for Indonesian nickel. The project involved a thorough assessment of environmental, social, and governance risks in nickel mining and processing, extensive stakeholder engagement, and a field trip to Indonesia. As project and remote research lead, I delivered a comprehensive report, actionable recommendations for a responsible sourcing strategy, and facilitated a strategy workshop with the senior leadership team, driving ethical sourcing and sustainability in the company's supply chain.

I authored the third edition of the Insights Series – Keys to Human Rights Due Diligence, a publication launched in 2021 to mark the 10th anniversary of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. This edition highlights success factors for small and medium-sized enterprises in effectively implementing human rights due diligence. The series provides practical insights and thought-provoking guidance to support businesses in embedding responsible due diligence processes.

I conducted foundational research mapping 100 global policies aimed at accelerating energy transition mineral extraction, analyzing anticipated social and environmental impacts. The project encompassed desk-based research, in-depth analysis, and international stakeholder engagement. Deliverables included internal reports, a peer-reviewed article in Nature Communications, and a comprehensive policy database detailing resource inventories and national policy actions to expedite the supply of Energy Transition Minerals (ETMs), providing critical insights to advance responsible and sustainable mineral supply chains.
